Bonnie Barnes co-founded The DAISY Foundation in 1999 with her husband Mark, following the passing of Mark’s son Patrick, to express their profound gratitude for the compassionate care Patrick’s nurses provided during his illness. What began as a heartfelt thank-you has grown into The DAISY Award®, now celebrated in over 7,000 healthcare facilities and schools across the globe, recognizing nurses for their extraordinary skill and compassion. Under Bonnie’s leadership, DAISY continues to expand its impact through nurse recognition, scholarships, research support, and global outreach, honoring nurses at every stage of their careers.
