Congratulations to Esther Adekola, Winner of the $5,000 Empowered Scholarship!
During Nursing Careers Week 2025, we honor nurses who exemplify purpose, perseverance, and vision for the future. We’re thrilled to recognize Esther Adekola as this year’s recipient of the $5,000 Empowered Scholarship—a prestigious award that supports nurses who have completed their education and are now ready to invest in their careers or begin repaying student loans.
This award celebrates Esther’s inspiring journey and her commitment to transforming healthcare from the inside out.
A Vision for Health Equity and Community Impact
Esther’s long-term goal is to become a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) focused on community health and preventive care, especially for underserved populations. Driven by a passion for addressing health disparities among low-income and immigrant communities, she plans to establish a wellness program that integrates primary care, health education, and preventive services.
Her dream is to have a healthcare system that is accessible, compassionate, and inclusive, and she’s building it from the ground up.
A Story of Resilience and Purpose
Esther’s journey into nursing began far from the classroom. Her early caregiving experiences revealed deep systemic gaps in healthcare access and ignited her mission to be a nurse who not only heals but advocates.
Completing her Bachelor of Nursing degree at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Esther has navigated financial hurdles, personal responsibilities, and moments of doubt. Yet, her perseverance has only strengthened her resolve to serve others.
The Power of Empowerment
For Esther, the scholarship means relief from lingering educational expenses, the ability to pursue advanced certifications, and time to mentor junior nurses and nursing assistants.
“I view this opportunity not just as financial assistance, but as a vote of confidence in my potential to contribute to my community and the nursing profession,” Esther shared.
Fueling the Future at Nursing Careers Week
Esther is particularly excited about the chance to connect with mentors and explore new frontiers in nursing at Nursing Careers Week. From critical thinking and advocacy to emerging technology and holistic care, she’s eager to grow and give back.
Congratulations again, Esther! You are the embodiment of what it means to be an empowered nurse. We are honored to support your journey and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll continue to make.
